Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot blowers have always been ahead in the camphone game with the like of the five-megapixel-toting C902 and K850i becoming favourites of casual snappers everywhere. So it’s no surprise to see the Asian-Scandinavian outfit lead the charge with the UK’s first ever eight-megapixel shooter, the Sony Ericsson C905.

But while this Cyber-shot sultan is quickest on the draw, it hasn’t got the entire mobile photography stage to itself, with the eight-megapixel wielding Samsung i8510, M8800 Pixon and LG KC910 Renoir jostling for supremacy. Can the C905 stave off the competition?

The Apple iPhone still sits regally on the touch phone throne, seemingly untouchable in the, er, touch UI stakes. Pretenders like the LG KU990 Viewty, Samsung F480 Tocco and HTC Touch Diamond have tried to topple the Jesus Machine but haven’t come even close to matching the iPhone finger-licking fluid multi-touch UI. But if rivals thought it tough before, then wait until they see the new iPhone 3G. Gulp.

Really, the iPhone 3G, now in shiny 8GB and 16GB flavours, is the handset the first generation iPhone should have been – downloading to a rapido HSDPA tune and guiding us from A to B with its built in GPS receiver. Still, it’s better late then never.

Samsung latest touch phone, the Tocco, expertly marries the Bellisimo cat-walk style of the Armani phone with megapixel camera power to get rival Korean tickler, the LG Viewty, a little antsy.

But while it may not be as card-sharp as the Armani blower, it makes the iPhone and the Viewty look XXL in comparison.
