Satnavs aren’t just static maps on the screen anymore, as TomTom’s new x40 range of Go Live models show. We’ve had a test drive with them and their features make it the ultimate interactive guide.
Satnav for your summer Euro roadtrip
Summer’s here, which means holidays, which means getting lost in some continental backwater with an outdated map, broken compass and a carload of screaming kids demanding ice cream.
But not if you kit yourself out with a satnav solution for your trip - these GPS-savvy direction-givers will ensure you’ll never take a wrong turn again!
TomTom GO 930T adds smart route calculation
TomTom has added intelligent route calculation to its top of the range polished black GO 930T model so you can get to your destination faster. Plus it’s chucked in a bunch of smart next-gen satnav features to make the journey even easier to navigate.
The new IQ routes feature uses real traffic information submitted anonymously by millions of TomTom users in order to calculate the best route. This way it can take into account aspects such as traffic, speed bumps or roundabouts rather than basing the calculation just on speed limit and distance.
TomTom GO 730 takes its talents across Europe
The spanking new GO 730 will help guide you round Europe and its ultra smart IQ Routes feature will leave you more time for sightseeing and baguette scoffing.
With maps for 31 countries in Western and Eastern Europe preloaded, the GO 730 is perfect for a jaunt across the continent. The IQ Routes feature cleverly picks the best route based on real information collection on roads by other TomTom users.
TomTom GO 530. Specialist subject, UK and Ireland
If you’re happy to keep your feet firmly fixed in good old Blighty and Ireland, you can save some money with the GO 530, but still benefit from all the latest TomTom features.
Like its bigger siblings the 730 and 930, the GO 530 comes with clever route planning that’s based on read data rather than just made up based on the speed limit. If other TomTom users have hit traffic on a particular journey before, then IQ Routes will aim to steer you round it.
New TomTom satnavs get ever smarter
TomTom One now with integrated mount
TomTom has redesigned its easy to use One range of satnavs and it now has an integrated windscreen mount.
The new mount, which folds nearly into the back of the unit, solves the problem of leaving the holder attached to your windscreen and risking a break in from a thief looking for your satnav. It’s a neat idea and means you also have one less thing to lose.
