Samsung claimed at the end of 2009 that we’d see less netbook options this year but the company seems intent on diversifying its range on a weekly basis. Next up is the Samsung NB30 Rugged netbook but with a twist, it’s now going to come with with a touchscreen display. Find out about the Samsung NB30 Rugged after the jump…
When it comes to netbooks, Samsung is very much at the forefront of things, with the Samsung N130 for the budget user, while the Samsung N310 offers style and design.
On the surface, the Samsung NB30 Rugged looks pretty much like any other Samsung netbook. You’ll find the 10.1-inch display and good-sized keyboard is backed by the Intel Atom N450 processor, 1024MB of memory and 250GB hard drive. There are also the standard webcam, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, three USB ports and VGA-out ports on board.

However, the big difference is the addition of touchscreen technology to the display, which gives the Samsung NB30 Rugged something of an edge over other manufacturers.
We’re not sure why Samsung is calling this netbook ‘rugged’ as the ports are exposed to the elements, so you’ll still find moisture getting into the system if you try and use it in ‘rugged conditions’. However, the Samsung NB30 Rugged comes with three differences – the keyboard is spill resistant, it has a scratch resistant coating and the hard drive ha anti-shock protection. So basically, Samsung has brought a few laptop basics over to its netbook range.
We’re waiting on a full UK announcement but the Samsung NB30 Rugged with touchscreen is set to launch in March and has a price of 399 Euros (£350).
