The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, has received a firmware update taking the the device to Firmware Version 40.0.005. This update is something of a major overall for the Nokia 5800 has it brings with it not only greater OS stability but the much promised kinetic scrolling and new easier-to-use Homescreen. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, was the first Nokia with a touchscreen and last year sold over eight million handsets around the world. The 3.2-inch smartphone has proven so popular that its sprung forth similar devices, such as the Nokia 5530 and the soon to launch Nokia 5230.
The Nokia 5800 Firmware Update Version v40.0.005 brings with it kinetic scrolling, so you can move around your apps and files a lot easier and smoother than with previous versions. Then there is the addition of the Homescreen seen in the Nokia X6 and Nokia 5530, which allows you to add up to 20 friends to the scrolling Contacts bar.
There are a host of new changes too, so check out the changelog below and if you own a Nokia 5800 use the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) on your laptop to check for the update. We’ve not heard whether this update is available OTA, but it may be worth looking on the device itself.

* New screen incoming call, also only when the screen is locked
* Ovi Contacts installed
* In the settings menu there is a new icon for ‘Phone Switch’
