Anyone who has used the LG Viewty will know it’s one of the most-loved 5-Megapixel camera phones on the market. However, in recent times it has been superseded by the LG Viewty Smart. So what to do with a once loved brand? How about trim down its features and re-launch it for the entry-level market. Enter the LG Viewty Lite – find out how we got on with it in our LG Viewty Lite review…
There seems to be a spate of late of entry-level handsets, stand up the Samsung Genio Touch and Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite, with touchscreen hitting the PAYG market. The LG Viewty Lite is another such device but comes with the advantage of the having a proven track record.
So, you’ll find 3G built-in for super-fast web browsing and sending of email and the 5-Megapixel camera is as snap happy as the LG Viewty ever was. Sure, it’s no longer quite as cutting-edge as it once was but we still find the LG Viewty Lite camera highly usable.
What’s more, the LG Viewty Lite even packs in the same Xenon flash as on the older device, so you’ll find that snaps taken in darker conditions, such as at a party, are still perfectly viewable.
Time has been kind on the device, as you’ll find the LG Viewty Lite is now looking a little chunky compared to the likes of these newer devices. That said, the build quality is still more than acceptable.
Less appealing is the 3-inch screen, as we found it a little sluggish to respond and you’ll need to give it a firm tap to activate many of the apps. This isn’t just the fault of the screen, as the interface is a little less than entry-level friendly.
Verdict
The LG Viewty Lite still delivers in terms of photo and video quality and there are some fairly appealing aspects to this handset. However, the ageing design and screen quality proves that in the world of phones at least, you can never re-kindle a love affair.
