The HTC HD2 could quite easily be the saviour of the Windows Mobile platform, as this 4.3-inch device has attracted more attention than just about any other device. How does it stack up? Find out with our full HTC HD2 review…
The use of the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on the HTC HD2 is well documented but that’s not what makes this handset so likeable. Nor is it the HTC Sense interface that makes the OS even more user friendly.
No, we like the HTC HD2 because HTC has done just a great job with the hardware. The 4.3-inch screen could have quite easily dominated this device and made it too big or heavy. However, it never feels too cumbersome or unwieldy, such as we saw with the LG BL40 Chocolate.
The screen on the HTC HD2 uses capacitive technology that supports multi-touch, so scrolling around your photos or just around a webpage is quick and easy. The screen responds extremely well to the lightest touch and may well be the best screen since the Apple iPhone 3GS.
When it comes to getting the most out of the HTC HD2, we found the 3G connection was quick and stable and HTC and done a great job with its HTC Sense OS, as the Homescreen and menus are intuitive and easy to get to grips with. So, you’ll find setting up and getting access to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, for example, easy to do.
With the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU in place, the HTC HD2 has a decent tune of speed. We also found the Wi-Fi connection was strong with a reliable signal, even in the clogged London streets. What’s more, if you want to make the most of the GPS built into the HTC HD2 then you can buy optional software and use this handset to replace the dedicated sat-nav in your car, it works that rather well.
