Motorola has been rather quiet of late, we’ve hardly heard a peep out of them all year with Apple, Nokia, Palm, and HTC stealing all the headlines. However, all this is about to change, as Motorola have an ace up their sleeve in the form of the Android OS 2.0 powered Motorola Milestone device.

Design & Build
Looks wise, the Motorola Milestone is certainly one of the best looking devices to surface in the latter part of 2009. Overall, the finish is sleek, stylish and extremely well built mixing a black metallic-plastic looking finish with gold trimmings — and all without looking tacky. The Droid has a large enough 3.7-inch display – although, we’ll talk more about that later – which boasts some impressive 854 x 480-pixel measurements as well as an eye-popping pixel density of 267ppi, which makes tasks like rendering text and font child’s play for the Motorola Milestone – good news for customers looking for a smartphone/e-reader, then! Overall, this is a truly beautiful device that Motorola have clearly spent a lot of time perfecting. So, in short, we have no complaints about the Motorola Milestone’s aesthetics.
Display
As we said, the Motorola Milestone’s display is pretty damn impressive. However, this is a bit of an understatement! Because the screen has such a high level of pixel density, it means that not only is the screen and its contents some of the sharpest you’re likely to see, but watching videos and films on the device is an absolute dream. In addition to this, the capacitive touch screen interface is extremely user intuitive and creates an overall tactility that will not disappoint.
Operating System
The Motorola Milestone is rocking an Android 2.0 OS, hence the name, and is one of the first devices to incorporate Google’s updated OS. So, what is different about Android 2.0? Well, for starters you get a new navigation app, new contacts/social network syncing, better email management, and an vastly improved browser – in short, the upgrade was extensive. Overall, Android 2.0 is quite an overhaul, taking all the good aspects of its predecessor, removing the bugs, and adding a boat load of new extras. In this sense, Android is increasingly starting to look like the way forward.

Keyboard
Recent reports have suggested that a lot of users’ are not entirely comfortable with just a touchscreen – some like to have a choice, others prefer buttons, and some like both. Fortunately, the Motorola Milestone has taken this into account, and includes a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. However, because the Motorola Milestone’s exceptionally thin, the keyboard has lost some of its dexterity, however, it is a small sacrifice to make for an otherwise perfect looking and highly functional device.
Performance
The Motorola Milestone is an extremely powerful device, and is powered by ARM Cortex A8 TI OMAP 3430 chipset, which is basically the same ones that power the iPhone and the Palm Pre. However, what sets the Motorola Milestone apart from the Apple iPhone is that, because it has an Android 2.0 OS, it can multitask – and this is on apps, programs, widgets, the web, what ever, and unfortunately, the iPhone can not… All of a sudden, the Apple iPhone isn’t looking as invincible as it once did.
