The Asus Eee PC 1201N has stirred more interest than any other netbook in recent months. The combination of 12.1-inch screen and dual-core Intel Atom processor seems to have caught people’s imagination. It won’t go on sale here in the UK until next year but what will it look and feel like? Check out the Asus Eee PC 1201N unboxing to find out…
The Asus Eee PC 1201N as far as netbooks go is a little different. Sure, the 12.1-inch screen means you’ll get a full-size keyboard and the display allows for full HD playback. However, it is the use of an Intel Atom 330 processor, which is a dual-core chip but essentially a desktop part that has got people interested.
The Asus Eee PC 1201N also comes with the Nvidia ION chipset to make getting that HD video running smoothly. The guys over at electricpig have managed to get their hands on the Asus Eee PC 1201N and have given it an unboxing.
The Asus Eee PC 1201N is referred to as being ‘essentially a larger version of the black Asus Eee PC Seashell 1005HA with a beefy battery’, which sounds pretty good to us. They go on to say that it has the same chiclet keyboard we’ve come to expect, along with a dimpled touchpad. However, the big difference is the addition of HDMI port for sending HD content to our HD TV.
The Asus Eee PC 1201N isn’t set for release until the New Year, where it is expected to costs £399 (inc. VAT). So, will you be adding the Asus Eee PC 1201N to your wishlist, or would you rather weight for a netbook version of the dual-core Intel Atom before upgrading your netbook?
