Asus seems to be trying to diversify its netbook line, moving away from its Intel Atom offerings, such as the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1005HA, by introducing first the Asus Eee PC 1201N and now the Asus Eee PC 1201T. So. What’s so different with the Asus Eee PC 1201T? For starters, this 12-inch netbook comes with ATI graphics but more importantly it’s set to pack an AMD dual-core processor. Find out more about the Asus Eee PC 1201T after the jump…
The Asus Eee PC 1201T has been announced in China and comes with an AMD Congo dual-core MV40 processor and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics. The MD Congo MV40 has a speed of 1.6GHz, the same as an Intel Atom CPU but with two processing cores we’re talking about getting more done in the same amount of time.
With the same 12.1-inch screen coming with 1366 x 768-pixel resolution and powered by ATI graphics, it’s a pity you won’t find an HDMI port on this netbook. However, what looks like being the most interesting aspect is the ‘Asus Hybrid Storage’ option, which allows for SSD and HDD storage – something that was shunned on Windows XP devices. However, this seems to no longer be the case with Windows 7 netbooks, or so it would appear.
There is no word on whether the Asus Eee PC 1201T will actually ship in the UK at this point. However, you can check out the technical specifications Asus Eee PC 1201T and see whether it’s worth waiting for:
