The LG BL20 Chocolate has been designed as the low-cost alternative to the LG BL40 Chocolate, the strange phone with the outré design and 2.4-inch screen. Find out how well the LG BL20 Chocolate handles with our full on review…
The LG BL20 Chocolate has been launched as a more cost-effective and easily more compact model of the LG BL40 Chocolate. So, you’ll find this is a fairly standard slider phone built around a 2.4-inch screen. The display isn’t the best we’ve seen and we found that when it came to rendering images they were left pixelated and a little jaggy around the edges.
When it comes to style we actually quite like the look of the of the LG BL20 Chocolate. It may have been tempered but it still shows its design DNA by using the same smokey black with pink used on the sides and on the keys.
The keyboard is a decent size and we found the keys a real pleasure to use, having a firm feel to them that makes texting and messaging a pleasure and never a chore. What’s more the style is much in evidence with a baclklight glow whenever you touch the keys.
When it comes to tech specs, you’ll find the LG BL20 Chocolate packs in some decent tools. So, you’ll find HSDPA and a 5-Megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, so such a pity the screen doesn’t show more than 262K colours. You’ll also find Bluetooth, FM Radio and web browser built-in.
We were a little surprised to find there is no 3.5mm audio jack on the LG BL20 Chocolate, so you can’t pop in your favourite headphones. With just 60MB of memory you won’t be able to store much in the way of audio or video but the microSD slot supports up to 16GB of storage with ease.
Verdict
Do we like the LG BL20 Chocolate? It’s easy to be impressed with the looks and feel but we’re left rather cold by what this handset delivers. The interface is a little awkward, the screen less than sharp and battery life less than ideal.
