TomTom has announced that the latest version of the TomTom app for iPhone and iPod touch (version 1.2) can now be purchased from the iTunes App Store. The new version of the TomTom app for iPhone software will also be made available for free to existing TomTom app customers. TomTom iPhone App Version 1.2 is now available and brings your iPhone and iPhone Touch preetty much in to line with a full-blown sat-nav system, such as the TomTom GO LIVE 940. However, TomTom has stressed that you’ll need the car cradle to make full use of the TomTom app for iPhone, as it’ll help amplify the signal.
The latest version of TomTom app for iPhone comes with a host of updates, such as text-to-speech for the UK Edition, as well as a host of map updates. However, it is the Points Of Interest (POV) that have seen the biggest change, as well as the new advanced lane guidance system.
The TomTom car kit has a built-in GPS module, integrated speaker and line out. However, it’s not vital if you stick the TomTom iPhone app on an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.
