It looks like Lenovo could well be the first manufacturer to launch an Intel Atom N450-based netbook. A 10-inch netbook with the code-name Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3 has popped up on the FCC sporting the chip, a well as a host of other features. Find out about the Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3 outing the Intel Atom N450 after the jump…
Any electrical product that wishes to be released in the US needs to pass an FCC filing, which is why the Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3 has popped up. This 10-inch netbook looks like being the first netbook to announce that it will sport the next-gen netbook chip from Intel.
The story, which first appeared on wirelessgoodness states that the FCC filing was made by Intel, which kind of lets Lenovo off the hook for outing the Intel Atom N450 processor ahead of its believed official release in January 2010.
The Intel Atom N450 CPU is a 1.66GHz and from what we can tell about the filing, the Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3 will also come with 2048MB of memory and 250GB hard drive. In many respects this looks like any other netbook, but it seems the touchpad and mouse buttons have been integrated into a single module, which should help cut-down on space.
We’re not likely to get official confirmation on the Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3, if it’s even to be called that, until later in the year. So, pricing and availability are anyone’s guess. However, with the FCC filing being in place, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be able to get our hands on the next generation of netbook pretty soon.
