Samsung has announced hat it will be launching Bada, it’s own open platform operating system for mobile phones. Samsung Bada will go directly up against such open platforms as Google Android and LiMO but Samsung is boasting of a more intuitive UI and a platform that will make developing apps a whole lot easier. Find out more about Samsung Bada after the jump…
Samsung Bada is a brand new operating system that Samsung claim will deliver a ‘ground breaking interface’ that is expected to make using your smartphone a whole lot easier. We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out, as the Samsung Bada OS SDK will be made available in December and it will be at this time that we also get to see the first screenshots of what the OS will look like.
What’s more, the first Samsung handsets running Bada are expected to appear in the first half of 2010, which will be a direct challenge to the variety of Microsoft Windows Mobile, Symbian and even Android devices that Samsung already produce.
Apparently, in Korean bada stands for ‘Ocean’ and it was chosen due to the ‘limitless variety of potential apps’ that would be on offer. We’ll have to wait and see if that comes to pass but it certainly offers an insight into how Samsung sees Bada rolling out in the future.
So, expect to see devices in the New Year, an Bada App Store shortly thereafter and plenty of choice for developers and consumers too.
