What’s more, the latest version, the Sony VAIO NW20 now comes with Windows 7 and we’ve managed to spend a little hands-on time with it. Check out the Sony VAIO NW20 Windows 7 laptop after the jump…
The first thing that impresses you about the Sony VAIO NW20 is how good it feels in the hand. Sony has given the NW20 a rippled effect that gives the plastic casing a very tactile feel. The same effect is also present on the palm rests.
With its 15.5-inch screen this is a good sized laptop ad the use of a chiclet keyboard means that the keys poke through the main body, giving them plenty of space and a great typing action. The mouse button also stand proud of the main body and getting the most out of this laptop is easy.
The screen is nice and sharp and being a true widescreen panel, movies look stunning and sharp. What’s more, there is also a HDMI port, so you can hook it up to your HD TV for even bigger images.
Sony considers the Sony VAIO NW20 to be an ‘ever day’ laptop, which means it’s intended as something of a workhorse, so you’ll find quite a decent spec on-board. Our review model uses the Intel Pentium Core-Duo T4300 backed by 3GB of memory, which really helps this laptop run smoothly.
The addition of Windows 7 only makes things even better, as we found it loaded really quickly, ran smooth and generally made things tick over nicely.
We’ve only spent a little time with the Sony VAIO NW20 running Windows 7 but we’re impressed and with prices starting at £499 (inc. VAT), it could well be one of the best looking every-day laptops around.
