The LG GT505 is yet another touchscreen mobile. Its general specifications are enticing. They include a 5-megapixel camera complete with LED flash, Wi-Fi and GPS. The GPS has the added bonus of a 30-day trial of some navigation software, WisePilot, which offers turn by turn directions. Check out how we got on with the LG GT505 with our full review…
The LG GT505 has a host of features, not least amongst them GPS. There is another GPS-using application built-in called Jogging Buddy which will measure distance and time, and can be set to beep at regular intervals. A beep every mile, or every ten minutes for example. And Google Maps is also pre-installed.
The touchscreen measures 3-inches across diagonal corners and is very nicely responsive. You can pull widgets onto the screen from a bar along its bottom edge. Very cleverly you just shake the phone to align them on a grid. Beneath the screen three familiar buttons offer Call, End and a shortcut to running applications. You get to the device main menu by pressing a touch button on the main screen.
A side mounted lock button helps prevent accidental screen presses when the phone is pocketed. Volume rockers and a camera button also help with ease of use. And there is a front camera for two-way video calls.
Size-wise the GT505 is a little tall for its width (107mm x 54.5mm x 11.8 mm), and its weight of 98g is no problem at all. The handset is 3G and it has 60B of built in memory with a slot for microSD cards conveniently located on the left side.
All this isn’t bad at all when you consider that the phone is free on £25 contracts exclusively via T-Mobile, though it is a shame about the microUSB headset slot.
Verdict
The LG GT505 offers good value for money if you want a fully touchscreened handset and are a T-Mobile fan.
