The Archos 5 Internet Tablet has finally been launched and brings with it a whole host of features you wouldn’t normally find on a tablet. Not the least of which that the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is running the Google Android OS, making this a slighter smarter device. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is here to tell you that the Google Android OS isn’t just for smartphones like the T-Mobile G1 or HTC Hero but also for other connected devices.
The Archos 5 Internet Tablet running Android comes with a 5-inch screen with an 800 × 480-pixel resolution and also packs in storage up to 500GB, as well as GPS and Wi-Fi in its rather sprightly frame.

There will be two versions of the Archos 5 Internet Tablet running Android make available, one with solid state drives, starting with the 8GB SSD version priced at £200 (inc. VAT), while the slightly larger version will pack in a mechanical hard drive up to 500GB in size. Pricing for this model has yet to be announced.
As always Archos provides a number of extra features, such as the HD Cinema plug-in, which plays back 720p video on a big screen hooked up to the tablet, to a DVR station, letting the Archos 5 Internet Tablet record live TV, or a GPS car holder to turn it into a sat-nav device.
The Archos 5 Internet Tablet running Android is ready for pre-order and will ship later this month.
