Asus has announced the launch of the Asus UL30A and Asus UL50 laptops as part of the new UL (UnLimited) Series that take advantage of Intel’s new range of CULV (Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage) processors.
Leading the charge is the Asus UL50A laptop that comes with a 15.6-inch screen and weighs in at a mere 2.3kg. Asus will be launching it with an 8-cell battery that the company is claiming will deliver up to 12 hours of battery life. The final UK specification has yet to be announced but it’s likely to sport an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor SU7300, running at 1.3GHz and come with up to 4096MB of memory. Graphics come in the form of Nvidia’s G210M with 512MB of memory
If you’re looking for something even smaller, then the Asus UL30A is a 13.3-inch model, measuring 322 x 232 x 14.8-24.2mm and weighing in at just 1.5kg should fit the bill. As with the larger Asus UL50A, there will be a range of processors on offer including the new dual-core Celeron CPUs.
Both models have been announced as launching with Windows Vista pre-installed but it’s likely that both the Asus UL30A and Asus UL50A will be seen in the UK sporting Windows 7.
UK pricing hasn’t been announced but the Asus UL50A is expected to cost around 699 Euros (£615), while the Asus UL30A is expected to cost around 599 Euros (£525).






Asus always promises for high quality products. The ASUS UL30A is a well designed laptop. The keyboard is very comfortable. Watching movies is fun as it has a 13.3” display which provides good angles. The video quality is satisfying. The speakers are huge and sounds good. Price-wise, its not very expensive.
