The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite is a touchscreen phone that has been designed as a partner to the more expensive Samsung S5600. It may be an entry-level version but you’ll still find this a feature-packed and highly usable phone. Check out how we got on with our Samsung S5230 review…
The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite is a great looking phone that feels nice and solid in the hand. It makes the most of its 3-inch screen and comes with two function buttons and a D-pad below it. So, you’ll need to use the ‘virtual’ keypad to makes calls, enter text and generally make the most of the Samsung S5230.
Weighing in at just 92g, the Samsung S5230 is light and comfy in the hand. You’ll find 256K colours supported, which is very much in keeping with the entry-level focus of this phone.
You’ll also find being an entry-level device there is no 3G connectivity in the Samsung S5230. However, you there is support for GPRS and EDGE = and with around 10 hours of talk time, we found this a highly usable device.
The 3-Megapixel camera takes images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels in size and comes with LED flash and even face and smile detection software built-in, which was something we were expecting in an entry-level smartphone. Memory is limited to 50MB but you can expand this up to 8GB using the microSD slot.
Verdict
The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite Lite may not be the most feature heavy phone out there but we were happy with how well it handled in every day use. Sure, lacking 3G you won’t be able to make the most of the latest multimedia options but overall this is a highly likeable phone for the price.
