Is Apple about to enter the growing touchscreen netbook fray by launching a pint-sized tablet of its own? The rumour has been doing the rounds for several months with the latest twist being that Apple won’t launch a tablet, but will in fact launch two tablets at the same time! What’s more we can expect to see them in September. Join us after the jump for the full details…
Apple has been teasingly silent for months about whether or not it will launch a netbook or a tablet. Till now we’ve had ‘insider sources’ being quoted but now Richard Doherty of Envisioneering Group has come out and said that Apple will be announcing its Apple tablet in the next couple of weeks.
What’s more, it won’t be one tablet but a brace of them, with both models aimed at quite different user groups. Doherty claims Apple is priming an iPod–style, 6–inch Apple tablet running a similar OS to the PMP and aimed right at gamers and media junkies.
The second Apple tablet will be a 10–inch model will pack in a full version of OS X. So, will this be going head-to-head with Windows based systems such as the Asus T101H and MSI Tablet? We’ll have to wait and see
For now, the Apple tablet remains a mystery ahead of Steve Jobs’ appearance on stage in the second week of September. However, this latest rumour at least seems to have better facts than the rest.
