The Asus Eee PC 1101HA may be yet another netbook in the long line of Asus netbooks, but it’s bringing with it a much larger screen and keyboard to the ultra-portable party, making it ideal for computing on the fly. To look at the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1101HA is to want one. It’s slick looks are a far cry from the early Fisher Price-like netbooks. It’s sturdy too, boasting a full-size keyboard that’s a joy to use and an 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display that’s sharp as. But because the Asus Eee PC 1101HA is a Seashell, it’s still small enough to fit in your manbag no problem.
Spec-wise it’s pretty similar to previous models with 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and Windows XP, but where it does differ from its smaller Seashell brethren is its processor - this has a 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU. You’ll also find Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
While we said that the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1101HA’s full-size keyboard was a joy to use on the whole, it did have one gripe: Asus has gone back to putting in a tiny right shift key you won’t be able to hit without scouring for first every single time. Why? We don’t know. But we wish they hadn’t.
Battery life is excellent, however, lasting up to around eleven hours from a single charge, so you can eek out as much life as the smaller 1008HA Seashell.
Verdict
The Asus Eee PC Seashell 1101HA is an excellent netbook (can you call an 11.6-inch laptop a netbook?), both in terms of performance and style. The larger keyboard and screen make for an overall more pleasing performance, while the battery life is exceptional.
