The Sony Ericsson C903 is a mid-range handset with some excellent plus points. Not least among them is the super 5-Megapixel camera. However, it’s not just the high-end camera that makes this a tasty little phone. Check out our Sony Ericsson C903 review for the full details on what could be the surprise snapper of the summer…
This is a 3G handset without Wi-Fi but with GPS. There is a range of bundled tools to help you get the most out of GPS, including NearMe which, not surprisingly, finds things like cinemas and cashpoints near your current location. There’s also navigation software Wayfinder, Tracker for monitoring your progress on training runs or other activities, and Google Maps.
As we’ve already mentioned, the Sony Ericsson C903 comes with a 5-Megapixel camera. You don’t actually need to go higher than this to get good quality images from a phone, and with Smile Shutter, Face Detection and BestPic on board here there is plenty to play along with. Once you’ve taken photos you can even deform them thanks to a little application called Pull Face – which is good for having fun with more than just faces.
With 130MB of built in memory and a Memory Stick Micro card slot you can bump up the memory quota for storing music. So it is a pity that Sony Ericsson bundles a one-piece headset that uses its proprietary headset connector which, as usual, protrudes from the left edge of the phone.
The 2.4-inch screen is sharp and bright, and a very responsive accelerometer turns it as you flip the phone about in your hands. This is great for picture viewing and Web browsing, though it doesn’t work in all apps. The slider mechanism is solid, and we like that there is TV-Out support – though you will need to buy a cable to take advantage.
Verdict
The Sony Ericsson C903 packs in the features and is a very solid and capable mid range handset.
