The Nokia 6700 Classic is the latest Symbian S40 device from Nokia and comes with a full Chrome finish over a full stainless steel body. This makes it rather hefty in the hand but it looks and feels a solid piece of quality phone. While designed for the mass market, this phone packs in some of the most high-end Nokia tech today. Check out our full review of the Nokia 6700 Classic and see why we think it’s a smartphone killer…
The Nokia 6700 Classic has a standard candybar design with a 2.2-inch screen and resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The screen sits above a standard four-button navigation system and function key. We’ve found it incredibly easy to use this phone.
The numeric keypad is also stainless steel but as a slightly rougher feel to it. The keys are backlit and we found them highly responsive. The S40 OS has a nice clean interface and because you ca load your most frequently used apps onto the Homescreen, you’ll find it a friendly phone to use.
With an overall weight of 116g, this is quite a heavy phone for given its rather slim profile. This is due to the full stainless steel body. It comes in two designs, black or chrome. We’ve tested the chrome version for this review and while it does attract a great deal of fingerprints and smudges, we found it very easy to keep clean.
When it comes to features you’ll find Bluetooth, A-GPS and even a 5-Megapixel camera fitted as standard. Perhaps the only top-end feature missing is Wi-Fi, which would have made syncing this phone with your laptop easier still.
The Nokia 6700 Classic comes with 150MB of memory, most of which is reserved for the OS. It ships with a 1GB microSD card but can support up to 8GB with ease.
Verdict
The Nokia 6700 Classic lives up to its name by being a great all-round phone. It’s a great example of high-end technology trickling down into more mainstream devices.

I got this phone a few days ago, as I got sick to the teeth of the Samsung i780 smartphone. It was clever; it had Microsoft Office, WiFi, touchscreen, etc. But I found it unresponsive and stupid. For example, even when the phone was ‘locked’, the volume buttons on the side still worked and frequently I missed calls because the phone was in silent mode. I longed for a simple phone once more, something modern and high tech, something sleek and of high quality … not a bloated smartphone with software I would never use, just a well-made device that would allow me to make calls, send text and pictures and check my e-mail. The 6700 came to the rescue. I have the black model, and it looks excellent. It feels wonderful to hold, as if you could throw it against a wall and nothing would happen (although I won’t be testing that). The user interface is simple, intuitive and highly responsive. Honestly, I cannot complement this phone enough. I’ve always found Nokia devices tacky and very low-spec for the money they cost, but this one has astounded me. Simply brilliant.
