First came the T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic and now we have the HTC Hero, which looks like being the slimmest and bets looking Android OS phone to date. HTC claims it will ship in the UK in July, with Orange expected to be the first network to pick up the HTC Hero. The white design is very much in keeping with the HTC Magic but the use of Teflon is very much a first for the company.
Aside from the Android OS, you’ll find a decent tech spec inside, including Qualcomm’s MSM7200A processor, which runs at 528MHz, 512MB of memory, GPS, Wi-Fi, G-sensor and a compass. It’s also the first mobile phone to include internet Flashplayer. The screen is a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a rather typical 320 x 480-pixel resolution. There is also multi-touch built-in as standard and has an anti-fingerprint coating, so you won’t get as many smudges on the display.
HTC Sense is a new interface that makes connecting with your favourite sites and contacts a whole lot easier. HTC is also introducing a new profile feature called scenes that enables you to create different customized content profiles around specific functions or times in your life. With HTC Sense, friends Facebook status updates and photos along with their Flickr photos are included along side their text messages, emails and call history in a single view.
