The BBC has announced that it can now offer its iPlayer service to a wider range of Nokia phones, including the Nokia E71 and Nokia N95 8GB. The BBC iPlayer service for mobile users has been in operation for a little over a year and started with the Nokia N95 before moving on to the Nokia 5800, which even offers full support to the Nokia N97.
This service has now been rolled out to the Nokia E71, as well as the Nokia N95 and Nokia N95 8GB. You’ll find all the features already used on the full desktop version, so you’ll be able to choose form live TV and Radio, as well as choose from the last seven days of programmes.
If you want to start watching BBC iPlayer on your Nokia you’ll need to download the latest widget - point your browser at www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer and install the newly designed widget.
BBC iPlayer runs through RealPlayer that is already installed on your Nokia E71 and this official release of iPlayer should automatically start to work. However, if you have any problems then you will need to open RealPlayer and grant access privileges to the BBC iPlayer app.
The service is open to any using a Wi-Fi connection. However, it’s worth pointing out that at the moment, only those using a 3 or Vodafone contract can actually watch BBC iPlayer on their Nokia E71 over a 3G connection. The BBC is expected to roll the service out to other providers in time but there is currently no schedule announced for this.
