Acer has expanded its burgeoning netbook range with another model that uses the Aspire One naming convention. This time we see the arrival of the Acer Aspire One Pro 531, which is being billed as a business netbook. How it differs from other models in the range you’ll find out if you join us after the jump…
The Acer Aspire One Pro 531 is being billed as a business netbook and aimed at those looking to use it as their second or third machine, the one to use when out and about instead of when sat at their desk.
Weighing just over 1kg and offering a claimed battery life of 7.5 hours, the Acer Aspire One Pro 531 should certainly meet the needs of the mobile use. This business-like machine is finished in black and has a solid plastic design that will appeal to business users.
The keyboard is 89 per cent full size, so not as big as you’ll find on the Samsung NC10, Samsung N110 or even the Dell Mini 10 but it should be large enough to type in comfort.

Acer claims the Acer Aspire One Pro 531 should also be made available with 3G options but the base system does not, merely offering Wi-Fi and fixed Ethernet connections. When it coems to specs, you’ll find this is a standard 10.1-inch netbook, whileAcer Video Conference featuring the integrated Acer Crystal Eye webcam and a digital microphone enables real-time video streaming, video chat and conference calling, with excellent voice and video quality.
Two models will be made available, the cheapest costing £349 (ex. VAT) and come with Windows XP, 250GB hard drive, 1024MB of memory and have a 3-cell battery. The more expensive £399 (ex. VAT) model offers the better 6-cell battery and 2048MB of memory. Both ship with Windows XP Professional Edition, as you would expect from a business machine.
