The MSI X340 ultraportable laptop has launched in the UK and brings with it a fully-fledged laptop tech spec but in a package that weighs just 1.3kg. This is a truly stunning laptop to look at but it’s juts as capable on the inside as it is on the out. Join us after the jump for the full product tour.
It would be easy to call the MSI X340 ultraportable laptop another MacBook Air killer but in reality, this Windows Vista machine is quite a different beast. For featured and with an expected long-life battery of up to six hours, this laptop offers much more than the MacBook Air ever could.
The screen is enhanced using MSI’s own Vivid Image Enhancement technology, which its claimed gives a better ‘3D expression’ when watching movies, viewing/editing photographs or playing games. The X340 uses the latest LED Power-Saving backlit screen, which provides better colour contrast and warmer definition without impacting on battery life.
Powered by an Intel Core 2 Solo processor and packed with 2048MB of memory and 320GB hard drive, there is enough power here for the mobile traveller. You won’t find an optical drive built-in but MSI offers a Blu-ray external unit as an optional extra.
Weighing just 1.3kg, the MSI X340 ultraportable laptop comes with a 13.4-inch Super-TFT panel that delivers a true 16:9 aspect ratio resolution. With HDMI port, as well as Bluetooth and 802.11n wireless connectivity on-board, you’ll be able to hook this laptop up to your widescreen TV as well as wireless networks.
The MSI X340 ultraportable laptop starts shipping in June and will be available in three different colours - piano black, pearl white and brushed silver. Pricing is a very competitive £859 (inc. VAT).
