Nokia sells more smartphones than all the other companies put together but could the company be about to take a giant leap forward and introduce its first device running a dual-core processor?
Well, it seems to be in the works and could be here sooner than we think. Check out the facts after the jump…
We all know that laptops come with dual-core processors – in some cases such as the Advent 6555 even quad-core, but what about your phone? Like the next generation of netbooks, we could see smartphones with a real power boost if they switch to dual-core processing power.
It seems that Nokia may well be leading the way, as news from the recent Nokia Developer’s Summit, suggests that the Symbian software guys are already working on the phone OS to do just that.
David Rivas, vice president of Nokia software platforms, suggested that Symbian will support multi-core processors ‘very, very soon’. While he didn’t go in to specifics of mention a time frame for this, it clearly shows that Nokia is taking its next generation of smartphones very seriously indeed.
