Sony Ericsson could well be about to announce the Sony Ercisson Xperia X2 if the latest online gossip from the boss of Skyhook Wireless is to be believed. This new Xperia would be another Windows Mobile device and come with a host of new tools. Check out the rumour after the jump…
Sony Ericsson may well be about to launch the Xperia X2 Windows Mobile phone to the world. At least, this is the rumouring that seemed to start over on the GigaOM blog, which cites Ted Morgan, CEO and co-founder of Skyhook (which develops Wi-Fi based geo-location software)
According to the story, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will use a Windows Mobile platform and will feature geo-location data from Google rather than from Skyhook.
Sony Ericsson has already stated that it will be launching a Google Android phone in the summer of this year. However, this rumour suggests that the Xperia brand will stay firmly with the Windows Mobile line. So, is Sony Ericsson about the announce a new brand name for it’s Google phone some time in the next few weeks?
This would make sense, as only last week Samsung changed the name of it’s Omnia line in order to preserve it Windows Mobile identity.
