Toshiba is about to join the 10-inch netbook club with the launch of its UX Series of netbooks. Toshiba was one of the last companies to get on-board the netbook wagon with the Toshiba NB100 netbook and with the line refresh it’ll bring it’s netbook range in line with everyone else.
Toshiba may not be driving the netbook market but it seems the company isn’t about to ignore it either, as it’s about to expand it range with the introduction of a larger model.
The Tohsiba UX Series will weigh 1.2kg and come with a larger 10.1-inch screen. This larger display means you’ll get a bigger keyboard, making it easier to type.
Intel Atom N280 processor, 1024MB of memory and 160GB hard drive, making it very much a netbook we’ll see Windows XP running on.
The 10.1-inch Lcd scren has the standard 1024 x 600-pixel resolution display, which is th same as can be found on the smaller 8.9-inch NB100. It is expected that along with the bigger screen will come a bigger battery cell pack, offering up to five hours of use.
There are no details at this time whether it will come with integrated 3G, but as Toshiba has aligne dits previous model with carriers, it’s highly likely that we’ll see the Toshiba UX sporting internal 3G at some point.
According to the report on US site, PC World, we can expect Toshiba to announce its 10-inch netbook later this week. However, we’re not likely to see pricing or availability in the UK for some time.
