The Nokia 6500 Slide has proven to be one of the most versatile and popular handset the company has released in a while. This is largely due to the great display and the range of multimedia features this slider-phone offers.
Here, we look at getting the best from the top features of the Nokia 6500 Slide.
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a great device with a compact design that really works. The slide-out keypad means you can fold it away when not needed, so it takes up less space in your pocket.
As a mass consumer device it has plenty of user-friendly features but we’ll show you how to get the most from this slim line tonic of a phone.
Music player
The Nokia 6500 Slider includes a music player that supports a range of formats, including MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA files. They can be downloaded onto the phone using the Nokia Audio Manager application, which is part of Nokia PC Suite that comes with the phone.
Starting the music player is easy, simply go to Menu>Media>Music player. Once it has opened you’ll be able to use it like any other player by setting up playlists, viewing folders by Artist, Album, or Genre and even play video through the media player.
To get the best from the music player it pays to set up the controls and use the built-in equaliser to balance the audio to the way you like it. To do this go to Menu >Media>Music player>Options>Settings>Music player theme.

Camera
The built-in camera on the 6500 Slide saves images in the popular .jpg format, so you’ll be able to share them with your friends and family without having to convert them.
To use the camera, give the camera key a short press and it will instantly kick in to life. To take an image, get your subject into view and half press the camera key, as this will auto-focus the frame for you. When the image looks settled, press the camera button again and the shot will be taken.
The phone automatically saves images in Gallery>Images, but you may want to instantly send it to a friend, in which case choose Options>Send.
The camera is quite basic, so you won’t be able to take continous shots and to take another image first you need to select Back before focussing for the next shot.

Video
The 6500 Slide saves video in the .3gp format, which means you may need to convert it using the PC Suite software before you can share it with other people.
The key thing to remember about video is that it takes up a great deal of space on your phone, so it pays to limit its use and/or the quality it can capture in. Naturally, the better the quality you save the video you, the more space it will take up.
You can set the video quality of your 6500 Slide from the Menu settings, by choosing Menu>Media >Video>Options>Settings>Video clip quality>High, Normal, or Basic.
At the same time, we’d also suggest limiting the size of the file, which means after a set time the camera will simply stop recording. To do this go to Menu>Media>Video>Options>Settings>Video clip length.
