The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot is a great camera phone that comes with a host of top-tech features inside. Features such as Smile Shutter and Face Recognition but getting the most out of such apps isn’t always easy.
We’ll show you how to get more from the built-in features of the Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot that will quickly have you taking snaps like pro.
Taking photos on the Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot is a pleasure as all you need to do it is slide back the lens cover on the rear of the phone and it will automatically spring to life. The lens won’t auto-focus straight away so for best results it pays to spend a second or two focussing the lens. To do this press gently on the trigger button and the lens will auto-focus for you. Then, when the dot and focus green are ready, they’ll turn green and you can take your snapshot.
If you want to zoom in on your subject before taking a shot, then press the volume button on the side of the handset and you’ll find the camera zooms in and out. Once you’ve taken
Recording a video clip works along the same lines, as you’ll need to press the video icon button, then when you want to start filming click the button down and start shooting. To stop you’ll need to press it down again and then wait a few seconds for the camera to auto-save the results.
Photo Fix
Here is a handy tip if you want to instantly improve your photos – the Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot comes with a feature called Photo Fix built-in, which as the name suggest allows you to fix common problems. You’ll need to set it up before you start taking pictures but to do this is easy, from the camera menu go to Settings>Reviews and make sure it says On. Then, once you’ve taken your snap you can check it in Review and choose the Photo Fix option.
Face Detection
This is another great feature that is built into the C510 and allows you to bring faces on the periphery of your shot into sharp focus. The software is able to detect up to three faces and bring them into focus, making group shots a far more rewarding experience.
A green frame shows which face has been selected by the auto-focus and this will typically be the centre of the frame. To set Face Detection on the C510 go to the camera settings and select Focus>Face Detection. It’s as easy as that and well worth using at parties and other social events.
Smile Shutter
We’ve all taken snaps and thought we’ve clicked at the right moment only to see that we were a fraction of a second too late and everyone has stopped smiling. The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot is the first camera phone to come with Smile Shutter technology and it allows you to capture the smiles of people you’re trying to photograph.
It works in a similar way to Face Detection, by focussing on the person closest to the camera. However, instead of detecting a face it’s a little more sophisticated and looks for the smile. When it’s locked in a yellow frame will appear showing you it’s auto-focussed in that person. When it detects they are smiling it will automatically take the picture. To set this function up switch on the camera and go to Select>Shoot Mode>Smile Shutter.
The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot is only one of a great range of phones from the company, check out other devices in the Sony Ericsson range.
