Asus P835 smartphone announced

The Asus P835 smartphone didn’t quite make it in time for MWC but it’s now been officially announced and from the spec list at least, it looks like it was well worth the wait.

Asus is calling it a ‘PDA phone’ but we prefer to think of it as a full-fledged smartphone. After all, it packs in a 3.5-inch touchscreen (800 x 480 pixels), and just happens to be running Windows Mobile 6.1. Check out the full facts on the Asus P835 smartphone after the jump…

The Asus P835 smartphone may not be the natural beauty we were expecting, as it’s a rather sombre little device but it manages to pack in enough to make it an interesting device.

Aside from the 3.5-inch touchscreen and Windows Mobile OS, there is a responsive trackball that makes scrolling effortless. If that’s not enough, you’ll find HSUPA connectivity, offering 7.2Mbps download speeds.

To make the most of the touchscreen, Asus has updated its Glide interface, which the company is now claiming is faster and smoother than before. Its also added Opera Mobile, a user-friendly and full-featured web browser that offers quicker load times than Internet Explorer.

No news on pricing and availability in the UK at this time, but we’ll update you when it becomes available.
