The LG X110 netbook shares the same basic design as the Advent 4211 netbook, largely due to them both being re-badged versions of the most expensive MSI Wind.
The big difference with this netbook is that it comes with 3G already built-in, making it more on par with the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and the Advent 4312 than any other model.
Available in white, black or white and pink, the LG X110 is a compact and easy to carry 1.2kg netbook. The plastic used is robust and solid to the touch. It feels good in the hand and when you open the lid, the 10.2-inch screen feels well supported by the hinges.
The screen has the now standard 1024 x 600-pixel resolution, which is sharp enough for working on but when it comes to web-browsing you’ll find you’ll need to scroll around as it won’t fit in a full web page.
The specification is what we’ve come to expect with Windows XP as the operating system. This means it’s limited to 1024MB of memory and 160GB hard drive. The Intel Atom N270 is typical of the class too but we found it handled tasks well.
This is a quiet running netbook and booted-up reasonable quickly. It’s not powerful enough to use as your main laptop but for using on the move it’s more than nimble enough. Battery life is less than satisfactory, though, as we only managed to get a little over two hours from the battery. You’ll find this will drop further if you use the 3G options widely.
Verdict
The LG X110 doesn’t offer much in the way of originality but the addition of 3G makes it a far more versatile netbook than it otherwise would be. The screen is good, the keyboard highly practical but we wish we could say the same about the battery life.
