The Nokia 5800, formerly codenamed “The Tube” might be best known for being in Batman, but this tuneful telephonic device is a capable superhero in its own right.
The 5800’s XpressMusic moniker gives itself little credit. Sure it excels in full tuneful glory, but it’s also one of the most advanced blowers in mobile land. It’s got everything: music, Internet, GPS, photography, touchscreen. Want? Then read on…
Key features
Media and contacts bar
A helpful media and contacts bar on the side of the homescreen gives you instant access to all your media instantly, whether it be movies, music or other entertainment tidbits, staying entertained is even easier. There’s also a contacts section where you can whip out information on your friends such as the last text message and peep RSS updates on your best mates.
Store up to 16GB
The Nokia 5800 comes lovingly packed with 8GB of memory for your mass media collection. Even better, upgrade to 16GB for enough space for up to 7,000 songs.
Different input methods
Thanks to Nokia’s first ever touchscreen handset, texting is even easier, and there are more ways to do it. Use the QWERTY keypad in landscape mode for nimble two handed texting or in portrait for conventional, but still quicker messaging. There’s also the stylus for use with the handwriting tool, or supplied plectrum, which coincidentally happens to be the perfect text tool for the large fingered.
Super Symbian
Nokia’s sparkling new Symbian S60 5th edition interface makes using the 5800 toddlers play. Everything is made simple with masses of drop down menus making things more accessible. Even basic functions like the calendar come to life via the 3.2-inch touchscreen.
All the music you could ever want
Download as many songs as you please as part of Nokia’s Comes With Music tune feast. You’ll even be allowed to keep them after your contract expires, not that you’d want it to.
