Skype 4.0 delivers a host of new features, including a new bandwidth manager to make sure your calls have the best clarity while not using too much bandwidth. Call quality is claimed to use 50 per cent less bandwidth but still manage to deliver crystal clear call quality.
Novice users will find this the easiest version to use yet, with a simplified design, as well as a more high-end UI for more experienced users. Video calls can also be put to greater effect, with built-in support for full screen calls too. If you have a fast enough connection (recommended 400 Kb/s or higher), a dual-core processor PC and a Skype Certified High Quality Video Webcam, Skype delivers up to 30-frames-per-second High Quality Video.
Skype users will still find all of the features they have come to expect, including free voice and video calls to other Skype users, instant messaging, SMS, as well as calls to landlines and mobile devices around the world at very low rates.
