The Sony Ericsson K850i doesn’t just take terrific photos, it’ll record top-notch video too. The trouble is, without a spot of editing it’ll look rough and unfinished.
Follow these simple steps to add flair to your footage.
Master in 2 minutes
Step 1: Solid start
Sony Ericsson’s Video DJ software is powerful, but it’s not a miracle worker. You’ll need to shoot footage at the best quality and in good light to see the most spectacular results. Luckily, the K850i comes packing a 5-megapixel sensor that’s able to record video in almost DVD quality. Make sure you’re recording at full quality before taking your footage, and you’ll get better results when you edit it later on.
Step 2: Become a Video DJ
Once you’ve shot your footage, fire up the Video DJ software by tapping the central ‘Menu’ key, and then choosing ‘Entertainment’. Add your clips to the storyboard and select each individual one to ‘Trim’ its start and end points. This will let you cut down lengthy clips and create scenes. If you’d rather not trim your clips you can always delete them from the storyboard, or choose ‘Replace’ to swap them for another clip.
Step 3: All-important audio
Unless you shot all your footage in silence you’ll have pops and crackles in the audio where your clips join together. You can avoid these by adding a soundtrack to your movie. Make sure you mute each individual clip too, unless there’s speech in there that you want to save.
Step 4: Forgotten something?
Video DJ will let you add another clip in the middle of your movie using the ‘Insert’ tool – it’s useful for adding footage you forgot to include, without having to re-make all your original cuts and joins.
Step 5: Share your work!
Once you’ve created a clip worth sharing, choose ‘Send’ from the ‘Options’ menu and show your work to friends using MMS or e-mail.
