Big, hefty, feature-packed handsets are all well and good, but what if you just want a music phone that keeps things simple? Well, Sony Ericsson’s new Xmini could be the answer - unfortunately at this moment in time you’ll only be able to get hold of one in Japan.
The super-compact slider boasts 4GB of built-in storage space (enough for about 1,000 decent quality songs) and stereo Bluetooth for wireless headphone use, but that’s about it as far as features go - this is strictly a music player that happens to double up as a basic mobile phone when you flick the keypad out. The battery supports an impressive 24 hours of music playback too (although making calls will curtail this significantly, we suspect).
The phone comes in a wacky range of colours and is available now in Japan. Will Sony Ericsson bring it to the UK? We can’t say for sure, but the fact that it lacks what the average Brit shopper would consider the very basics for a mobile phone (there’s no camera at all!) makes it quite unlikely. Boo, and indeed hiss.
