Keep your friends and family clued-up about what you’re up to with a spot of mobile blogging – and all without having to lift a finger!
It’s dead simple
Master in 5 minutes
Step 1: Get Twitter
The first thing you need to do is sign up for free micro-blogging service Twitter, which lets you post brief updates, called tweets, via text message or the Internet. This way, you can keep pals, family and work colleagues updated on what you’re up – you might be heading for a party, running late for a meeting or just eating a particularly tasty sandwich.
The messages appear on your Twitter page, and are also instantly delivered to anyone who has signed up to receive them – via SMS, instant messaging, RSS or email.
Step 2: Add TwitterFone to the mix
Why strain your fingers hammering out text messages when you can create tweets with nothing more than your voice? A brand new service cunningly dubbed TwitterFone lets you do just that – you dial a local number and record your voice message, which is then transcribed to text, turned into a tweet and shot out to your Twitter contacts through the ether.
TwitterFone is free and all you need to pay is the price of the local phone call while you leave your message – the only problem you might face is that it’s currently in a beta testing phase and is therefore only available via invitation. The good news is that new invites are being sent out every week, so register your details on the site and keep your fingers crossed.
Step 3: Start tweeting
Once you’re a Twitter and TwitterFone user it’s time to start micro-blogging. Cajole your mates and relatives into getting Twitter - then you can regale them with instantly-updated details of your journey to work, the weather, what you’re having for lunch and anything else you fancy.
