Having just finished swooning over Nokia’s slinky slimline E71, a smartphone that outrageously flouted the rules that business phones can’t be gorgeous, we’re now set to get gooey over its equally accomplished business partner, the slick sliding E66.
As follow-up to the understandably popular E65, this new Symbian S60 skater is designed for those who don’t covert the E71’s QWERTY keyboard but demand a swish smartie that’s at home in the boardroom as it is holidaying in the Seychelles. In fact, while the Nokia’s Eseries has always possessed corporate edge, this new generation is also incredibly hip to the multimedia scene.
At 13mm the E66 is more streamlined that its predecessor, despite packing a few more pounds, but like the E71 its expertly mined from stainless steel trim and paneling. Its reflective frontage adds a touch of design class, although it’s inevitably open to attack from those pesky finger smudges.
The E66 is also every bit the feature and performance equal to the E71, so you’ll be web browsing to its high speed connectivity courtesy of HSDPA and built-in Wi-Fi, journeying from A to B without a hitch using its onboard GPS and highly skilled Nokia 2.0 maps and getting snap happy with the sharper-focusing 3.2-megapixel camera.
On the business front, the E66 comes through with four shortcut keys to premier PIM functions, an email set-up procedure for techno-dummies and a neat ringtone killing moves that cuts off the annoying noise, but not the call, by turning the phone face down on the boardroom table, a la Nokia 8800 Arte.
