Motorola’s PEBL phone never really hit the stellar heights enjoyed by it slimline RAZR stablemate but the new funked up U9 might just reignite our love affair with its shapely body.
With a pink or purple glossy mirror finish, the U9 has clearly got the fun loving female in its slinky sights. This means a clutch bag hugging torso with the sort of sleek curves that would win you the skimming stone world championship.
But the U9 also hits the prepay stage with slicker music skills added to its CV. The dedicated music key and receptive front music player controls underline its new audio chops while an expansive 11 mode equalizer brilliantly bolsters the already feisty sound. Luckily, the supplied earphones are actually listenable although with no 3.5mm adapter there’s no option to plug in your quality Sennheiser cans - shame on you Moto.
Elsewhere, the camera is a two-megapixel flavoured point, shoot and hope variety geared for MMS high jinks while naturally, for a budgeteer, the U9 downloads to a slow-core EDGE tune. However, if you’re still cagey about going with Moto because of its notorious bitchy UI rep you can fret no more; the U9 is a treat to use.
Verdict
The funky glossy makeover accentuates the curves even more and the newfound audio talents is perfect for the about town social butterfly music nibbler.
