To accommodate its powerful photographic chops, Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot crew has always erred a bit on the porky side.
But its latest camphone member, the C902, kicks this trend into touch, packing a strapping camera lens along with a delightfully slimline physique.
Its new look trim 10.5mm thick profile makes the C902 the slimmest five-megapixel camphone in the known universe but unfortunately such a diet conscious figure comes at a cost. Unlike fellow K850i and K810i Cyber-shooters, the C902 is bereft of a Xenon flash. But we have to admit, the svelte trunk is definitely worth the sacrifice and its photo LED flash is still a bright spark suitable for most low lit surroundings.
Sony Ericsson has also fitted the HSDPA-flying C902 with a lens cover slider action straight out of the Spy Who Loves Me. It’s a cool mechanism with the camera poised for action within seconds of opening. Also lining the QVGA-quality screen is a series of eight touch sensitive shortcut icons so you can change settings like focus, face detection flash or scenes super quick.
And even without the Xenon flash to lend a hand, the C902 takes blinding snaps worthy of printing and framing. Elsewhere, you can also geotag your photos and view their location on Google Maps and automatically peruse your snaps in landscape mode using the built in accelerometer motion sensors.
Verdict
Our favourite camphone series goes super slim and not even a truant Xenon flash can stop us wanting the C902 lining our pockets.
