Samsung latest touch phone, the Tocco, expertly marries the Bellisimo cat-walk style of the Armani phone with megapixel camera power to get rival Korean tickler, the LG Viewty, a little antsy.
But while it may not be as card-sharp as the Armani blower, it makes the iPhone and the Viewty look XXL in comparison.
And along with its sleek super model posturing, Samsung has also spiced up the UI with widgets, letting you drag’n’drop feature shortcut icons onto the home-screen. It’s a neat arrangement, especially when the touch screen welcomes your finger taps, but if you’re expecting iPhone fluidity when web browsing over rapido HSDPA or menu scrolling - then think again, daddio.
The Tocco’s sharp autofocus-toting five-megapixel snapper is also brimming with photos mods including Face Detection tech and Smile Shot wizardry. This voodoo can freakishly sense when someone is making a Cheshire cat grin and lock the focus onto the mouth area, giving your portraits a professional sheen.
Verdict
Uber-stylish, widget wonderful and loaded with considerable camera grunt, the nicely compact Tocco is only letdown by a touch UI skittish to scrolling duties.
