If you’re packing a Windows Mobile you’ll finally be able to view embedded web videos, thanks to Microsoft’s decision to license Flash Lite.
The software plug-in will work with Internet Explorer Mobile, allowing users to watch embedded videos on websites such as YouTube. Microsoft had seemingly been quite reluctant to put Flash on Windows Mobile phones – possibly because it has its own Silverlight software on the way for web video – but has apparently bitten the bullet now, making both Flash Lite and Adobe Reader LE (for viewing PDF files) available to Windows Mobile Manufacturers.
Expect to see both applications included in future Windows Mobile handsets, then – and possibly a downloadable version to allow existing handsets to upgrade in the short term.
